GOOD NEWS!

Another organization will be taking over this race and it WILL be run on the previously anounced date of August 24, 2008.

A new site will soon appear for registration.

After several years of successfully promoting this exciting event Ka Lima O Maui finds that it is no longer able to continue Cycle to the Sun. We began this event as a means of fundraising for our organization and re-establishing this once popular hill climb. Unfortunately the resources required to put on this event severely taxed our small organization and our Board of Directors felt we would best be able to serve our clients if we were to eliminate this event and limit our fundraising activities to the 3 other major fundraising events we do annually. Fortunately another organization has agreed to take over this race so it will continue as the great event that it is.

2008 Race date is Sunday August 24th

This extreme cycling event on Maui is for experienced and trained cyclists. Bikers should be prepared for any type of weather in route and as much as a 30 degree temperature change. The race is open to individuals and teams with a limit of 200 riders. Bikers start in the historic north shore town of Paia and wind their way upcountry through sugar cane and pineapple fields past the Paniolo town of Makawao and into the scenic pasturelands of Olinda. Ride along rolling fields and through Eucalyptus groves in route to pine forests at the 6,500' tree line. Beyond the tree line is another 11 quad burning miles as the road traverses up the side of the dormant volcano Haleakala. A half mile from the summit you can see the finish line as the grade now steepens to 19%!
